Moving Advice You Must Know

Hi there, my name is Devin and when my friends and family get ready to move to a new house, they always call on me to help. I own a large box truck that I use for my work, and when someone needs to move, I use my truck to help them move. Because I've done this numerous times, I've learned many things about moving. The good thing is that I can offer sound advice when a problem arises. Since I'm the guy that everyone needs when they move, my friend suggested that I write a blog. After thinking it over, I realized that many people would be able to benefit from my experience with moving and so this blog was born. I hope that by reading this blog, it will help you when moving.

Six Things You Can Do To Help Your Movers On Move-In Day

Moving day can be stressful. However, hiring professional movers is a great way to minimize the stress that goes along with moving into a new home.

There are a lot of things you can do on the day you move to help your movers and make the move quicker for both you and your movers. The following are six things you can do to help your movers on move-in day.

Make sure you have everything packed up in advance

Prepare for the arrival of your movers by making sure you've got everything boxed that needs to be boxed before they arrive. This way, your movers can get right to work packing up the truck to take all of your belongings to your new home.

Label all of your boxes clearly

It's important to develop a system for labeling all of your boxes clearly. This will make it so that your movers know exactly where boxes need to go in the new home.

Notify your movers of any fragile items

If you have any fragile items that you need your mover's help to relocate, it's important that you notify your movers. Notifying your movers of fragile items maximizes the chances that you'll get through your move without any accidental damage to your most valuable possessions.

Be patient

A move takes time. Don't try to rush things. Understand that you might experience some delays and hold-ups as your move proceeds. However, with the help of your movers, you will eventually get all of your items moved so that you can get settled in your new home.

Be available for communication

Your movers might have questions they need to ask you on the day you have your move scheduled. If you're not able to answer questions promptly, you may experience delays in your move.

Try to be present on move-in day. If you cannot be physically present, you should at least try to be reachable by phone. This way, you can answer any questions your mover has as quickly as possible.

Empty out your furniture drawers, shelves, and cabinets

It's going to be harder for your movers to relocate furniture items if you haven't cleaned out your furniture beforehand. You should empty out drawers, shelves, and cabinets that are part of your furniture pieces. Removing items from your furniture will make furniture pieces more lightweight and help you to keep track of all your possessions as you move.
